		<description><![CDATA[Jefferson seemed to view the slavery situation in the same manner as much of America views the current situation with foreign oil. He viewed the abolishment of slavery as something that needed to happen, yet felt that both he and much of the American economy was dependent on slavery. Just as we today view our addiction to foreign oil as something that we will slowly wean ourselves off of, men like Jefferson believed the same of slavery. Sadly, however, Jefferson&#039;s economic dilemma did not deal with a lifeless commodity; it dealt with the suffering of human beings.]]></description>
