Welcome to visitors from Civil War Medicine (and Writing)! I am a great admirer of my friend Jim Schmidt’s research and writing on the medical practices and challenges of the Civil War era. Jim’s column, “Medical Department,” has appeared regularly in The Civil War News magazine for over 10 years, and he is the author of the excellent book Lincoln’s Labels: America’s Best Known Brands and the Civil War and Years of Change and Suffering: Modern Perspectives on Civil War Medicine, both of which I highly recommend.
Jim has been kind enough to feature us on his blog this week. You can read his review of To the Ends of the Earth on his blog, as well as a fun author interview. Jim asked us some of the most interesting questions we’ve heard in a long time!
Enjoy exploring Jim’s great blog, and enter here for a chance to win a copy of The Fairest Portion of the Globe! HURRY – GIVEAWAY ENDS TOMORROW!
